Dow volunteers build “living classroom” at Luling Elementary

Hahnville, LA - August 04, 2004

Dow employee volunteers recently built the framework for a “living classroom” at Luling Elementary, one of the Dow’s Partners in Education schools in St. Charles Parish. As a project made possible through Dow funding, the special domed-shape classroom will house plants, insects, and aquatic animals. St. Charles Parish schoolteachers Craig Howard and Dinah Maddox will continue to work with Dow volunteers to complete the project and plan for all students at Luling Elementary to experience this new learning environment during the upcoming school year. The dome will provide students a natural setting with hands-on access to living materials, encouraging them to observe and discover the environment – a fascinating way to learn about science.
