Dow’s Jambalaya Cook-off raises $5,200 for United Way

Hahnville, LA - September 02, 2004

The 4th Annual Dow United Way Jambalaya Cook-off held August 26th proved to be the best ever since the event started in 2001 - raising more than $5,200 for the United Way!

As part of the site’s United Way campaign kick-off, twenty-one jambalaya teams from various plants within St. Charles Operations competed in Dow’s Battle for the Paddle. Combining the money raised from jambalaya lunches, a leadership dunking booth and a bake sale, employees donated more than $5,200 towards this year's United Way campaign at the site.

Dow’s Jambalaya Cook- off winners were:

  • 1st Place - Fallon Hotard Sr. & Fallon Hotard Jr (J.E. Merit )
  • 2nd Place - Chad Naquin, Joe Bordelon, Errol Combest & Richard Haydel (Maintenance Tech Services)
  • 3rd Place - Chris Tregre, Straus Breaux & Daniel Veron (EOH Maintenance)

The winning teams will advance to the United Way of St. Charles Parish Jambalaya Cook-off on September 16 at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

Tommy Trant, St. Charles Operations employee and Dow Jambalaya Cook-off volunteer, said, “What a great way to raise money for such a worthy cause in Louisiana – get a bunch of Cajuns together and cook jambalaya! Our employees really look forward to this event. This is our fourth year to hold the Jambalaya Cook-off at Dow to benefit the United Way of St. Charles and each year it gets better and better.”
